911 on internet phone service: what you need to know

911 works on VoxFax voice lines, but internet phone service has limits a traditional landline does not. Please read this page and share it with everyone in your home or office.

How 911 works with VoxFax

When you sign up we register your service address for 911. When you dial 911 from your VoxFax line, the call goes to the emergency center for that address and they see where you are. This is called Enhanced 911 (E911).

When 911 may not work

Always keep another way to call 911, such as a cell phone.

Moving or using the line somewhere else?

Tell us your new address before you use the line there. Call 888-517-8991 (9am – 7pm Mountain Time, 7 days a week) or send us a message.

Full details are in section 4b of our Terms of Service.

Frequently asked questions

Does 911 work on VoxFax?

Yes, from a VoxFax voice line with a registered address, as long as your power, internet and device are working.

What if I move?

Update your 911 address with us before using the line at the new address.

Can I call 911 from the phone app?

Yes, if the app is signed in and online, but responders will be sent to your registered 911 address, not your GPS location. Use your cell phone's regular dialer for 911 when you are away from home.
